Our Standards
People first. Safety always.
A clear look at the customer-care education and safety training behind FLO’s higher standard of service, and what each one means for you.
Human Excellence: customer care
Trained to care for more than your plumbing.
Great service means understanding the person opening the door, not just the plumbing problem.
Senior Respect & Aging-in-Place Awareness
What our team learns: Communicating patiently, respecting independence, noticing mobility barriers and asking before offering assistance.
What this means for you: Your concerns are heard, your pace is respected, and recommendations are explained without talking down to you.
Dementia & Alzheimer’s Awareness
What our team learns: Using calm, simple communication, reducing confusion and respecting the roles of family members or caregivers.
What this means for you: A visit can be more predictable and less stressful for a household affected by memory loss.
Disability & Accessibility Etiquette
What our team learns: Respectful interactions with people who have mobility, hearing, vision, intellectual or other disabilities, and asking what accommodations help.
What this means for you: We speak directly to you, respect your preferences and avoid making assumptions about what you can do.
Autism & Sensory-Friendly Service
What our team learns: Recognizing sensory sensitivities, giving advance warning before loud work and explaining changes to routine.
What this means for you: We aim to reduce avoidable surprises, noise-related distress and disruption in your home.
Hearing, Vision & Communication Accessibility
What our team learns: Clear written explanations, facing the person when speaking, describing work areas and asking before moving objects.
What this means for you: Important repair information is communicated in a way you can understand and review.
Human Excellence: sensitive situations
Compassion is part of the job.
Our people-focused standards support respectful service during difficult or sensitive circumstances.
Mental Health & Emotional Distress Awareness
What our team learns: Recognizing when someone appears overwhelmed, listening without judgment and knowing when to seek appropriate help.
What this means for you: We respond to stressful situations with patience rather than pressure. Our technicians are not mental-health clinicians.
Grief, Bereavement & Trauma-Informed Service
What our team learns: Using sensitive language, respecting privacy and avoiding unnecessary disruption when a household is experiencing loss or illness.
What this means for you: You are treated with consideration, even when the plumbing issue is only one of many things you are managing.
Elder Financial Exploitation & Ethical Service
What our team learns: Recognizing possible vulnerability, explaining costs plainly, allowing time for decisions and avoiding high-pressure sales tactics.
What this means for you: You receive clear options and pricing so you can make an informed choice without feeling pushed.
De-escalation & Conflict Resolution
What our team learns: Listening, staying calm, explaining next steps and seeking help when a situation becomes unsafe.
What this means for you: When something goes wrong or a conversation gets difficult, we work toward a respectful solution.
White-Glove Home Respect & Privacy
What our team learns: Professional introductions, permission before photos, floor protection, careful tool placement, clean-up and final walkthroughs.
What this means for you: Your home, belongings and personal information are treated with respect.
Safety training & credential pathways
Trained to recognize risk.
Safety education helps our team protect homeowners, coworkers and surrounding property.
OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach
What our team learns: Recognizing common construction hazards, prevention principles and safe work practices.
What this means for you: A stronger foundation for identifying hazards before work begins. OSHA 10 is a course-completion card, not a license.
First Aid, CPR & AED
What our team learns: Responding to medical emergencies, performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator.
What this means for you: Team members with current provider-issued certification are better prepared to respond while emergency help is coming.
Hazard Communication, PPE & Exposure Prevention
What our team learns: Understanding chemical labels, safety data sheets, protective equipment and contamination precautions, including sewage exposure.
What this means for you: Safer handling of potentially hazardous materials and better protection of occupied spaces.
Confined-Space Awareness & Qualified Entry
What our team learns: Identifying oxygen deficiency, hazardous atmospheres, restricted access and the controls required for authorized entry.
What this means for you: Our team recognizes when a space is dangerous. Only specifically trained and authorized personnel may perform entry duties.
Trenching, Excavation & Utility Safety
What our team learns: Recognizing cave-in risks, underground utilities, protective systems and excavation hazards.
What this means for you: Safer decisions around open trenches and buried infrastructure. Designated competent persons have additional responsibilities.
Respiratory, Electrical, Gas & Energy-Isolation Safety
What our team learns: Recognizing airborne hazards, energized equipment, gas leaks and the need for controls, including lockout/tagout where applicable.
What this means for you: The right precautions are considered before hazardous work starts. Respirator use may require medical evaluation and fit testing.
Ladder, Fall, Driving & Incident Response
What our team learns: Reducing fall risks, driving company vehicles responsibly, identifying hazards and reporting incidents.

About these standards
FLO Human Excellence is a company-developed training and assessment standard. The topics above describe training competencies, not separate government-issued professional licenses. Outside courses may support specific subjects.
This page describes FLO Plumbing Group’s training standards and credential pathways. It does not claim that every employee currently holds every listed certificate or authorization. Some training is internal; external certifications depend on course completion and provider requirements. Specialized qualifications are role-specific, and apprentices are supervised as appropriate. Ask us about the qualifications relevant to your project.
